Some linguists and language students, like actor Stephen Frye, believe that the narrower constraints imposed by Twitter and cell phone text messaging force people to relay meaning in constrictive conciseness. I doubt that the average text message-grinder is concerned about making meaning; the text recipient can phone and ask what he meant.

Short words aren't bad, though short words without variation fail to make meaning clear or expand meaning.
