It's the condition of life that makes us feel as though we can control our outcomes, our daily pursuits, our desires.  

Always a choice when confronted peripherally is ignoring the source of communications with which we disagree.

This offer goes out the window if the voice has the backing of the federal government, because the speech could lead to laws that restrict your rights.

Leaving the scene of idiocy is often an option.

Have you ever wanted to tell some sensitive, passive, indecisive wonk of a coworker to grow a pair, but held your tongue because the company might accuse you of using sexist language (never mind the insult)?

So, instead, you say, “Toughen up” or “Grow up,” or “Deal with it” as alternatives, but you still get into trouble because you’ve hurt someone’s feelings and they file a complaint.

Or someone else brought a complaint on a berated party’s behalf based on their inference of suspected emotional damage, because that’s the damage they’d feel in response to such a criticism or rude comment.

What about that hopeless incompetent you work with whose duties you depend on if you’re to do your job competently? Ever tell him to do his job, act like a professional, or take some training? I mean, this guy’s feelings you want to hurt.

And what’s wrong with shaming people who deserve it? Ask any old coach who hasn’t been brainwashed by “facilitators” in the self-esteem movement how shame and rebellion against authority can bring out the spirit in a player to prove the coach wrong.

According to corporate and government managers, who get slammed with lawsuits and injunctions and government fines, there’s a lot wrong with honest communication in the workplace.
