Freedom of religion is the most assiduously protected freedom by our government, even if it means breaking other tenets, such as separation of church and state.

People are free to do things for which they might otherwise be fined and investigated for fraud if they didn't cite religious grounds for their actions.

Law enforcement agencies abide by rules prohibiting the apprehension of criminals if sheltered in churches, and priests are immune to aiding and abetting statutes. Yet, people aren't safe in their own homes against police invasions based on anonymous informant tips.
